Product Overview

The polyester uniaxial geogrid is warp-knitted from high-tenacity polyester yarn with strength concentrated in the machine direction. This makes the polyester uniaxial geogrid the right choice where a large tensile force must be carried along one axis, such as retaining walls, steep reinforced slopes and embankment widening.

Twelve grades from 55-30 to 1200-200 kN/m are available, each with PVC or modified polymer coating for UV and alkali resistance. The polyester uniaxial geogrid is supplied in 1 - 6 m wide rolls of 50 - 200 m, ready for site cutting and anchoring.

Key Features

  • Directional high strength: the polyester uniaxial geogrid concentrates 55 - 1200 kN/m in the load direction for efficient reinforcement.
  • Low elongation: working at 10 - 15 % strain, the polyester uniaxial geogrid restrains deformation before the structure moves.
  • Coated for longevity: PVC coating protects the polyester uniaxial geogrid against UV, acid and alkali in permanent works.
  • Strong soil interlock: the open aperture of the polyester uniaxial geogrid lets fill compact through it and locks the reinforcement into the soil mass.
  • Creep resistant: low-creep polyester yarn keeps the polyester uniaxial geogrid design strength stable over the service life.
  • Flexible and light: rolls of polyester uniaxial geogrid can be carried and placed by hand on slopes with limited access.

Production

Raw Material

High-tenacity, low-creep polyester multifilament yarn is the base of the polyester uniaxial geogrid. Incoming yarn is checked for tenacity and elongation so that the finished polyester uniaxial geogrid reaches its nominal warp strength.

Production Process

Knitting lays the strong yarns in the machine direction, then the polyester uniaxial geogrid is coated, dried and cured. Line tension is controlled to keep the aperture of the polyester uniaxial geogrid uniform along the roll.

Quality Control

Warp and weft tensile strength, elongation, aperture size and coating adhesion are tested per batch of polyester uniaxial geogrid. Test reports accompany each shipment so the polyester uniaxial geogrid can be verified against the design specification.

Applications

  • Reinforced retaining walls: the polyester uniaxial geogrid anchors wall facing to the retained soil.
  • Steep slope reinforcement: the polyester uniaxial geogrid allows slopes steeper than the natural angle of repose.
  • Embankment widening: the polyester uniaxial geogrid ties new fill into an existing embankment.
  • Landfill and containment bunds: the polyester uniaxial geogrid reinforces containment dykes and capping layers.
  • Bridge abutment and culvert: the polyester uniaxial geogrid supports abutment fill and arch over culverts.
