Product Overview

The 3D geomat from Bingo Pipeline is a three-dimensional erosion control mat made from synthetic filaments bonded into a flexible, open structure. Seed and topsoil are held inside the mat while roots grow through it, so the 3D geomat protects slopes and channels before vegetation takes over.

Four standard models (EM2 to EM5) cover light slope protection through to heavy shore erosion, and a high-strength concave-convex 3D geomat at 220 g/m² is available for more demanding sections. Black is standard and green is supplied on request.

Quick Information

  • Models: EM2 / EM3 / EM4 / EM5
  • Structure: three-dimensional synthetic net mat
  • Standard weight: 220 g/m² (high-strength concave-convex type)

Specification Table

Model Structure Standard weight Typical use
EM2 Three-dimensional geomat, double-layer net 220 g/m² for high-strength 3D geomat (concave-convex type) Light slope protection and turf establishment
EM3 Three-dimensional geomat Channel banks and gentle slopes
EM4 Three-dimensional geomat Steeper slopes and higher flow channels
EM5 Three-dimensional geomat Heavy erosion control and shore protection
Colour Black standard, green available
High-strength type Concave-convex (embossed) 3D geomat, standard 220 g/m², custom weights on request

Key Features

  • Holds seed and topsoil: the open 3D geomat structure keeps soil and seed in place on slopes until vegetation is established.
  • Reduces flow velocity: the three-dimensional geometry of the 3D geomat breaks up runoff and limits rill erosion.
  • Root reinforcement: plant roots grow through the 3D geomat and form a composite protective layer.
  • Four models: EM2 to EM5 of the 3D geomat let the mat be matched to slope angle and flow conditions.
  • High-strength option: the concave-convex 3D geomat at 220 g/m² provides extra tensile strength for steep slopes.
  • Light and easy to lay: rolls of 3D geomat are unrolled by hand, pinned and covered with topsoil without heavy equipment.

Production

Raw Material

The 3D geomat is extruded from synthetic filaments with UV stabilisers and bonded into a three-dimensional net. Filament diameter and mat weight are controlled to keep the 3D geomat open enough for roots yet strong enough for flow.

Production Process

Filaments are laid in crossing directions and bonded at their contact points, then the 3D geomat is trimmed to roll width. Mat thickness and bonding quality are checked on line.

Quality Control

Samples of each 3D geomat batch are tested for mass per unit area, tensile strength, thickness and UV stability. Rolls are labelled with model and weight for site identification.

Applications

  • Cut and fill slope protection: the 3D geomat stabilises new slopes until vegetation covers them.
  • River and channel bank: the 3D geomat resists scour on channel side slopes and banks.
  • Landfill and mine site rehabilitation: the 3D geomat re-establishes vegetation on capped waste and spoil.
  • Road and railway embankment: the 3D geomat prevents surface erosion on embankment batters.
  • Landscaping and green roofs: the 3D geomat supports turf on steep ornamental and roof surfaces.
